Of course there will be those who prefer to work in an office, but many of those who have a good alternative will opt out. Offices will be less about work and more about interaction. We are also going to see some big changes within offices. Demand for office and retail space will decline, but there will be increased demand for new kinds of housing, ecommerce fulfillment centers, delivery-only kitchens, healthcare centers, and ad hoc office facilities for meetings and events. We are going to see some big changes to commercial real estate. I’m curious to see if the handshake returns. We will be less cautious, but we are now more cognizant of germs.
